The Designer:
Viva Sage Thabethe, also known as the Dandy Artist, is a self-taught photographer, artist, and designer born and raised in Soweto, Johannesburg. Inspired by South African culture and the boldness of African art, he draws from everyday life and ancestral narratives to create work that preserves heritage and educates future generations. Now living in Belgium, he uses his vibrant art to reconnect with home and engage audiences through powerful visual storytelling.

The Design:
“Isibusiso Sabaphansi” translates to “a blessing from my ancestors”. The design symbolises Viva Sage’s inherited creativity from his clan elders and reflects the beauty of Africa through memory, tradition, and craftsmanship. Inspired by rural life and memories of his grandmother creating “ukhamba” traditional pottery, the colours echo African landscapes and traditional arts. This throw carries a rich cultural legacy, woven together to offer an authentic connection to African heritage.
